Jim Tompkins, PhD

Jim Tompkins is one of the world’s foremost authorities on end-to-end supply chain design and implementation. Over a 50-year career, he has founded 15 businesses generating more than $2 billion in revenue and currently serves as Chairman of five companies, including Tompkins Ventures, which he founded in April 2020.
Jim’s expertise spans operations, technology, and the deployment of consequential AI, with a consistent focus on helping organizations achieve their full potential. He is the author of 31 books and more than 2,000 articles, has delivered more than 2,000 live presentations, and has appeared on more than 500 podcasts.
He holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, where he is recognized as a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus, and is the recipient of the Frank and Lillian Gilbreath Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.
